Nkitseng Mahalefa, holding a Bachelor's degree in education, Program in Archival Science, Diploma in Project Management, BAInfo Science Honors in Archives and Records. Mr Mahalefa was the Treasurer of SASA before recently being elected as Deputy President of SASA. He was formally Deputy President of OHASA (2015-2018), a union leader, currently Head of Mpumalanga Provincial Archives and Records Management Services 2007-to date.

Dr. Vanessa Neo Mathope is a lecturer in the Department of Information Science at the University of South Africa (Unisa). She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Science, Master of Information Science, a Bachelor of Information Science Honours, a Bachelor of Information Science, and a Higher Certificate in Archives and Records Management, all from UNISA. She has further enhanced her expertise through various short courses, including Basic Archives and Records Management, Intermediate Archives and Records Management, Advanced Archives and Records Management, File Plan Implementation Training, and Best Practices in Electronic Records Management & Digital Archiving. She has published four articles in accredited journals, over 40 newsletter articles (Weekly Highlights) and authored two books (Orphaned with Living Parents and Becoming the Mailroom Doctor).

Dr Makutla Mojapelo is currently working as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Science at the University of South Africa (Unisa). His work at Unisa is centred around the following key performance areas: teaching and learning, community engagement, academic citizenship and research. Dr Mojapelo completed PhD in Information Science under the following research topic: IMPLEMENTATION OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION LEGISLATION IN SOUTH AFRICA AND ZIMBABWE. The areas of his research interest include freedom of information, open data, digital data curation, archival advocacy and public programming. Dr Mojapelo is a young academic who has so far published 11 research articles in peer-reviewed local and international journals and one book chapter. He is regularly invited to review papers for local and international journals. In 2019, he successfully completed the Young Academic Programme (YAP), which was facilitated by UNISA Department of Human Resource Development. The programme gave him an exposure in various aspects of academia and thoroughly prepared him to engage in rigorous academic activities within and outside UNISA. In 2021, he participated in International Council on Archives (ICA) New Professional Programme. His involvement in the ICA NPP sparked a heightened interested in initiating discussions about structured mentorship programme in archives and records management.

Nikkita Singh is currently employed as a Records Analyst at Rand Merchant Bank specializing in Records and Archives Management. She has a strong background in documentation management, analysis and volunteering and enjoys giving back to the community through her employment. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management and enjoys hiking and walks on the beach.

Prof Ngoako Marutha is a C2 NRF research rated full Professor in the Department of Information Science at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He also serves as a representative of the Unisa Department of Information Science on the International Council on Archives (ICA). He is an ICA Regular Member of Section on University and Research Institution Archives (ICA/SUV), where he also serves as an executive member for bureau. He is also a regular member for ICA section for Archival education (SAE) and section for the National Assembly. He also serves ICA as a New Professionals mentor for year 2023. He is also a member of the South African Society of Archivists, where he serves on the National Executive Committee as Editor-in-chief for the Journal of the South African Society of Archivists from 2022 to date, and from 2018 to 2021 as Deputy Editor. Prof Marutha is also a review editor for the journal Frontiers in Research Metrics and Analytics. He serve as a Chairperson for Limpopo Provincial Archives and records service of South Africa Advisory Council (LPAAC), and serves as a member of the National Archives Advisory Council (NAAC) in the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa. He has published several books, chapters and articles in different national and international publications and presented conference papers. His research interest includes knowledge, archives, and records management, especially on patients and hospital records, electronic records, artificial intelligence, internet of things, cloud computing, Blockchain technology, enterprise content management, big data management and police case records security. The other field of his interest includes library management and marketing as well as Open Distance electronic learning (ODeL). His professional industry background includes working as an information and records manager as well as librarian in several public and private institutions over 13 years. He has been in the academic industry over five years so far. He holds Bachelor of Information studies and Bachelor of Information Studies honour from University of the North (UNIN)-now known as University of Limpopo (UL), Master of Information Science and Doctor of literature and philosophy from University of South Africa (UNISA). He serves as external examiner for master’s and doctoral research studies for over seven universities.

Dr Mahlatse Moses Shekgola is highly committed lecturer with almost 4 years’ experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate level at the Department of Information Science, University of South Africa (UNISA). I completed my Doctoral study titled: Digital curation of archives through open-source software in South Africa in 2024, under the supervision of Professor Mpho Ngoepe. I hold Master of Information Science, BA honours, postgraduate certificate in archival studies amongst other qualifications in the field of ARM. My research interest includes curation of digital archives, Software’s for digital records management, Storytelling, documentation and preservation of heritage, Teaching and Learning Management Systems, to name just a few. I am Unisa Young Academic Programme (YAP) Alumni (2022). I am appointed Moodle Champion for School of Arts since 2022. I participate in the following community engagement projects such as Storytelling and the Preservation of Cultural heritage, Sustainable Records Management Practice in the Aviation Sector as well as Computer and Information Literacy in KwaZulu-Natal.

Nkwenkwezi Languza is Head of the National Archives Repository, responsible for Client Services, Oral History, and Outreach/Public Programming. Prior to this, he led the Sound Preservation Section of the National Film, Video and Sound Archives (NFVSA), a sub-directorate of the National Archives of South Africa within the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Pedagogics (Music) from the University of Fort Hare; B.A. Honours in Music and Musicology from Rhodes University. Diploma in Basic Sound Engineering from Allenby Campus; Diploma in Sound Engineering Practice and Management from Bournemouth and Poole College, and Management Development Programme (MDP) Certificate from Stellenbosch University; Certificates in Heritage and Rights from the University of Oslo; Integrated Heritage Resources Management Practice from Rhodes University; Certificate in Museum Conservation and Preservation, Heritage, Culture and Tourism Skills from the University of Pretoria; and a Programme Certificate in Archival Studies from UNISA.
He has presented at a range of national and international platforms, including the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) Conference, the International Federation of Television Archives (FIAT-IFTA) World Congress, the Moshito Music Conference and Workshops, the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA) Breakfast Sessions, the KwaZulu-Natal Music Imbizo, the Botswana International Music Conference, and the International Association of Music Libraries and Archives (IAML) Congress, among others.
In 2008, he was one of two international interns selected for a five-month Sound Archiving Internship Programme at the British Library’s Centre for Conservation. And in April 2018, one of four archivists from the National Archives of South Africa who received specialised training at the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) on the digitisation of dictabelts (an obsolete sound format) and the restoration of sound files extracted from these archival records.

Ms Phindile Bekwa is a dedicated and accomplished professional, currently employed as a Records Management Specialist at Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) since 1 July 2023. She has a wealth of expertise in records management, information management, and library and information services, honed over years of working across diverse sectors including primary and nursing education, provincial legislature, medical research, and academic libraries. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Library Science in Education (B.BIBL.ED) degree from the then University of the North, followed by an Honour’s degree in Information Science from the University of South Africa (UNISA).Demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing her knowledge and contributing to the field, Ms Bekwa earned an MPhil in Information and Knowledge Management from Stellenbosch University in 2023. Her master’s research, titled “Information Orientation: A Critical Analysis of State-Owned Enterprises in South Africa”, reflects her keen interest in the strategic use of information within the public sector.Beyond her professional and academic accomplishments, Ms Bekwa is also a passionate advocate for literacy and youth development. In her pursuit to foster a love for reading among children, she authored and published a children's book titled “Hlelo’s Christmas Story”, aimed at inspiring a new generation of readers. Her commitment to professional excellence has been recognised through her selection as the first recipient of the South African Society of Archivists (SASA) Elite Mentorship Programme for the 2024/2025 financial year. Ms Bekwa’s career reflects a profound commitment to the stewardship of information, lifelong learning, and community upliftment.

Mr Lwazi Mestile is currently the Head of the University of the Free State Archives. He previously worked for two Provincial archives (Eastern Cape as records Manager, and the Northwest as a Senior Archivist) and at the Office of the Auditor General South Africa as an Assistant Manager. He has more than 16 uninterrupted experience in the filed of Archives and Records Management. Out of those years more that 13 years in managerial roles. He supplemented his expertise with a journey through the University of South Africa (UNISA) acquiring a Master of Information Science degree specialising in records Management. He is currently enrolled into a Doctoral degree at UNISA, specialising in Digital Archives.

Jongisilo Pokwana ka Menziwa is former Chairperson of SASA. He is an oral historian, researcher and former member of both Eastern Cape Provincial Archives Advisory Council and the National Archives Advisory Council. He also serves as Chief of KwaZangashe village in the Eastern Cape. He has served as portfolio head for Research and Development at Oral History Association of South.
